From the classic "Space Oddity" to the wonderful "The Next Day to the smash hit "Let’s Dance", the internationally-acclaimed former lead singer of "The Stranglers"British Paul Roberts and his band are going to deliver a set of songs from across the classic albums of David Bowie. Celebrating the incredible music of that great and unique master of modern pop music and culture, the show will include hits, such as "Ziggy Stardust","The Jean Genie", "China Girl", "Rebel Rebel", "Sound and Vision", "Fame", "Suffragette City", and many more.

Following David Bowie’s passing earlier this year on 10 January, "Let’s Dance – Paul Roberts sings David Bowie" will be all about remembering and paying homage, as well as celebrating and enjoying life in the unique way that David Bowie would want us to!

David Bowie (8 January 1947 - 10 January 2016) was a British singer, songwriter and actor, and a very famous one for that matter for more than five decades! During his lifetime, he did a lot of TV appearances and participated in a lot of films and cameos. More importantly, as a musician, his record sales were estimated to well over 140 million worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling singers of all time. In the UK, he was awarded nine Platinum album certifications, eleven gold and eight silver ones, and he released eleven number-one albums. His smash hits include "Let’s Dance", "The Jean Genie", "China Girl", "Rebel Rebel", "Sound and Vision", "Fame", "Suffragette City", the classic "Space Oddity", the wonderful "The Next Day", and many more. And don’t forget that Bowie’s new song "Lazarus" was nominated for a Mercury Prize most recently too!



ABOUT PAUL ROBERTS

Paul Roberts was the lead singer of The Stranglers between 1990 and 2006, replacing Hugh Cornwall in 1990 and appearing on and co-writing their studio albums Stranglers in the Night, About Time, Written in Red, Coup de Grace and Norfolk Coast. Since then, he has worked on several solo music projects and, as a talented actor, toured in shows including the world premiere of The Darling Buds of May in which he played Pop Larkin, and starred in The Great American Songbook in London.

As lead singer for 16 years with British band The Stranglers, Paul has had chart hits in both Britain and Europe and appears on at least 30 albums and as many singles. The band was awarded a prestigious Ivor Novello for the world-famous song Golden Brown which reached number 2 in the UK top 40. He has performed at some of the world’s biggest music festivals, played London’s Royal Albert Hall, and worked with and alongside some of the world’s biggest artists and leading European producers including award-winning Cenzo Townshend, Dave Arch, Mark Campbell, Alan Winstanley, Martin Phipps, OMD, Thomas Laing, Go West, the Rod Stewart band and Nigel Kennedy. Other engagements have included entertaining the forces across the globe, including in the Falklands, Kosovo, Bosnia, Macedonia, Belfast and Cyprus.

Paul is backed by his 4-piece band of leading British musicians who have all performed with countless international headline artists across the world.

ABOUT THE UK BAND



Andy Ellis
(Guitar)


Andy has been performing and writing for over 20 years. He has toured Britain, Europe and the USA, working with artists including Peter Gabriel, Peter Hammill, Toploader, The Waterboys and many more. A unique and much sought-after guitarist, he has co-written and appeared on over 20 albums. As a musical director and arranger, his credits include Soulsec, Richard Naiff and the Brighton Festival. He was instrumental in starting the Rock School revolution in the UK, playing live music in derelict venues and inspiring the music fraternity of Britain to focus on the arts and engage entrepreneurs.



Martin Lawrie
(Keyboards)


Martin is a well-known figure in the music industry having worked for several years for manufacturers Korg and Casio, programming and developing new keyboard and synthesiser products. As a performer and composer, he has released several albums with his fusion band Curfew, touring Britain and Europe, and collaborated with many top names including Jools Holland, Simon Phillips, the original Dave Finnegan’s Commitments band and Joe Zawinul. He regularly performs on major stages including Glastonbury Festival, the London Jazz Café, the Marlborough Jazz Festival, London’s Canary Wharf and at many other major UK venues.



Kita Steuer
(Bass)


Kita is an in-demand musician, songwriter, arranger and producer and is leader of Brazilian band Samba Soul Transatlantico. He has recorded and toured extensively across the Americas and Europe, taking in many of the major stages with the likes of Ray Charles, Billy Paul and Diane Schuur. He has appeared on over 25 albums and performed at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and at the São Paulo Stadium in Brazil.



Jason Day
(Drums)


Jason’s professional career began at the age of 15 after winning a national competition in the UK. He went on to work as a session musician in London and eventually LA before touring the world with Sheryl Crow’s band. Other artists he has worked with include Pitchshifter, Feeder, the Spice Girls and members of The Waterboys and The Stranglers. He records and tours every year in Britain, Northern Europe and South America with his band, Heavy Traffic, and their fifth album is due to be released in 2017.
